You are strong & you

can do hard things.

Let’s do this!

Offering counseling services for high school (14+) and college students as well as 20 and 30 somethings

Utilizing talk, activity and/or EMDR Therapy we will work together to increase awareness, facilitate growth and create some positive change to impact your future for the good.

    EMDR?

EMDR is some powerful stuff. If you feel like you’ve talked through the same experiences, thoughts, behaviors or beliefs over and over but aren’t experiencing much change, EMDR may be great for you.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy is an evidenced based approach used to improve current functioning by addressing the impact of unresolved trauma and adverse experiences. Upsetting or distressing experiences can get caught in our nervous system and our bodies can hold onto stuff even though the experience is over. EMDR can be beneficial when an experience or memory continues to feel bothersome because EMDR helps our bodies to digest what got stuck. It also helps to resolve the negative beliefs that formed based on these experiences and create new, positive and adaptive beliefs instead. EMDR works with the brain’s innate abilities to reprocess past and present material associated with difficulties and help individuals create a more productive way of living. Like I said, powerful stuff!

    WHAT TO EXPECT

When starting something new, it can be helpful and assuring to know what to expect. It helps us to feel prepared and can help to calm nerves. Here’s what you can plan for:

In our work together we will

    • Start by meeting you where you are, as you are, and discuss your greatest joys, your hardships, and the experiences that have shaped you into who you are today.
    • Have a lot of #realtalk and look honestly and openly into your experiences with curiosity and compassion.
    • Identify what’s working, what’s not working and what you want to be different.
    • Meet consistently (either in-person or virtually) to help YOU achieve your goals
    • Do a lot of hard work and also have some fun!
    • Laugh. Because laughter is important. It decreases stress hormones, is a great antidote for the internal critic and helps to remind us that we can find joy in the pursuit of joy; it’s not just waiting on the other side.

There is a lot that we will accomplish, but changes don’t happen overnight and it will take some work. Personal growth is a slow and steady process, it’s one step at a time. I would be honored to accompany you on your journey.
